Transportation FAQs

  • Check the SMARTtag Student Ridership Parent Portal to receive the latest bus information. (route number, stop location, pick up and drop off times)

  • To improve efficiency and ensure students arrive safely and on time, Liberty Hill ISD places bus stops on main roads and central locations. The walk-to-stop distance is capped at 0.5 miles (or five long blocks). If you need a bus stop change due to relocation or another reason, please submit the appropriate request form.

  • Check the SMARTtag Student Ridership Parent Portal for bus route information.

  • For security and efficiency, we encourage all students to use their SMARTtag badge when boarding the bus. However, if a student doesn't have their badge, the driver can manually enter their name or student ID.

  • We are hiring for multiple transportation positions. Learn more and apply below:

  • Large items like musical instruments, athletic equipment, school projects, fundraiser items, etc., that cannot be held in the student's lap, or safely stored on the bus are not allowed.

  • Please have your student report it to their driver, their home campus, or submit an anonymous alert on our anonymous tips webpage.

  • Parents of Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students must be present at the bus stop with their children. Parents of students with special needs must also be at the stop unless the student’s Transportation Services Supplement allows them to be left unattended.

  • The main number for LHISD Transportation is 512-379-3250.

  • After each trip, drivers check the bus for any items left behind. If the owner is known and time permits, the driver will deliver the item to the campus front office. Unidentified items can be claimed by the student on their next ride or the following day, whichever comes first. Valuable items may be turned in to the Dispatch office for safekeeping.

  • Remain calm. If you suspect your child is lost, first check the SMARTtag Student Ridership Parent Portal to confirm if they boarded the bus.

If they did, contact our Dispatch office at 512-379-3250 and select your child's assigned terminal based on their route number.

Please provide detailed information (student's full name, ID number, route number, stop location, description, etc.) to help locate them.

  • Several factors may cause your child’s bus to run late, such as mechanical issues, traffic, weather, or incidents involving the driver, monitor, or another student. If the bus is delayed, check the SMARTtag Student Ridership Parent Portal for its location and estimated arrival time.

  • If your student's bus does not arrive for morning pickup, it is still expected to operate the afternoon routes. If the assigned driver is unable to transport the students for any reason, another driver will be assigned to help. Please note that in this situation, the student may arrive later than expected at their destination.
