LIBERTY HILL, TX - Liberty Hill ISD is excited to announce the hiring of Rachel Acosta as Director of Communications following Tuesday night’s board meeting on February 21, 2023. 

Rachel brings 19 years of communications experience, consisting of 15 years of military service and four years in school public relations. She most recently served as the Community Relations Coordinator for Leander ISD. Previously, she served as a Public Affairs Officer and in Communications and Information Systems for the U.S. Air Force. 

Passionate about fulfilling this role as a servant leader, Rachel looks forward to highlighting our students and staff and building meaningful relationships with district and community members. Her experience in a large, fast-growth district has provided her with the experience necessary to serve Liberty Hill well through communicating clear, honest information, celebrating our students and campuses, supporting cross-functional district initiatives, and hosting and participating in local community engagements.

Rachel looks forward to serving the fast growth in Liberty Hill ISD while maintaining the intimate, small-town feel. “Growing up in a small town allowed me the opportunity to experience the value of a close-knit community,” said Acosta. “It is truly a privilege to serve the students, families, and all of the wonderful, caring people of Liberty Hill.”

Rachel received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Troy University in Montgomery, Alabama. She also completed the Public Affairs Qualification Course at the Defense Information School at Fort George Meade, Maryland. 

She met and married her husband, Liberty Hill ISD Criminal Justice Teacher Bernie Acosta, while serving in the military. Their children attend Liberty Hill ISD schools, connecting her to the district not only professionally, but also as a parent.
