Student Transfers

Out-of-District (Inter-District) Transfers

2026–2027 School Year

Liberty Hill ISD does not accept general out-of-district (inter-district) transfer students in accordance with Board Policy FDA (Local). Enrollment is limited to students who reside within district boundaries.

Limited exceptions may apply as permitted by Board policy, including previously approved grandfathered transfers and eligible employee-based student transfers.

Families who move into Liberty Hill ISD attendance zones may enroll at their zoned campus upon providing required residency documentation. Information regarding enrollment requirements and campus zoning is available through the district’s student services department.

Employee-Based Student Transfers

2026–2027 School Year

Liberty Hill ISD may offer limited transfer consideration for children of district employees, in alignment with Board Policy FDB (Local) and applicable administrative guidelines. Employee-based student transfers may include students who reside outside of district boundaries, as permitted by policy.

These requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and are subject to capacity, staffing, and program availability.

Employee-based transfer guidelines:

  • Must be submitted annually
  • Approval is not guaranteed
  • Do not provide automatic placement at a specific campus or feeder pattern
  • Require the employee to maintain active employment status with the district
  • Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian; however, bus transportation may be available if the assigned campus aligns with the employee’s work feeder pattern (refer to the Employee Handbook for full transportation provisions)
  • All other transfer conditions apply

For additional information, application procedures, and current guidelines, staff members should refer to the Employee Handbook and contact the Student Services Department or designated student transfer team through internal district channels.

In-District (Intra-District) Transfers

2026–2027 School Year

Liberty Hill ISD offers an intra-district (in-district) transfer option in accordance with Board Policy FDB (Local). This option is available only to currently enrolled LHISD students requesting a transfer between designated campuses.

Click here to begin the intra-district transfer request process.

Eligibility Criteria

Requests for intra-district transfers will be considered based on:

  • Available capacity at the requested campus and/or grade level
  • Staffing and program availability
  • Student attendance and discipline history

A limited number of intra-district transfer openings may be available at the following campuses for the 2026–2027 school year:

  • Lariat Trails Elementary School
  • Louine Noble Elementary School
  • Legacy Ranch Middle School
  • Santa Rita Elementary School (only open to students zoned to Tierra Rosa Elementary School)

Important Considerations

  • Transfers are granted one school year at a time
  • Approval is not guaranteed and requires reapplication each year
  • Transfer approval does not ensure continuation within a feeder pattern
  • Sibling transfers are evaluated individually and may not both be approved
  • Transportation is not provided for transfer students
  • A $50 non-refundable processing fee is required for each approved application

Transfer FAQs

  • Transfers are approved only if the following conditions are met: Participating campuses will remain at or below 80% capacity to ensure space for new incoming students, and

    • No additional staff or classrooms will be added to accommodate transfers

    Elementary Guidelines: Teacher:Student Ratio

    • Grades K–4: Up to a 22:1 student-teacher ratio
    • Grade 5: Up to a 25:1 student-teacher ratio

Selection will be made utilizing a lottery system. If selected, students will be transferred to the first-choice campus. If that campus/grade level is full, the student will be transferred to the second choice campus. If both are full, communication will be made to the parent.

Once an intra-district transfer has been approved, the parent/guardian will be required to sign a parent agreement, including an acknowledgement of acceptance for one school year and an acknowledgement of UIL participation guidelines.

  • To submit a transfer request:

    • Complete a separate application for each student
    • Agree to all applicable Board policies and UIL guidelines
  • Transfer requests may not be granted due to:

    • Lack of space at the requested campus or grade level
    • Incomplete or inaccurate application information
    • Disciplinary history
    • Patterns of poor attendance, tardiness, or late pick-up
    • Academic performance concerns
    • Previous transfer denial
    • Parent/guardian misconduct or falsified information
  • Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
District bus service is not provided.

  • Appeals may be submitted in accordance with District policies FDB (Local) and FNG (Local), where applicable.
