LIBERTY HILL, Texas – The Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees has named Travis Motal as Interim Superintendent of Schools following the recent appointment of Superintendent Steve Snell as Williamson County Judge.
Motal currently serves as LHISD’s Chief of Schools and brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including the past five years in Liberty Hill ISD. He will serve as interim superintendent while the Board completes the formal selection process.
As Chief of Schools, Motal has overseen instructional programs, student services, and campus leadership across all LHISD campuses. Prior to that, he served as the district’s Director of Secondary Education, where he led Liberty Hill’s secondary campuses, Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, and School Safety and Security. He also served as a middle school principal in Liberty Hill and a campus leader in Taylor ISD.
Motal began his career in Pflugerville ISD as a teacher and assistant principal. In 2020, he was named Region 13 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas State University and earned his superintendent certification from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2020.
Motal replaces outgoing superintendent Steve Snell, who led Liberty Hill ISD through a period of significant growth and expansion. During Snell’s tenure, the district opened new campuses, managed major bond projects, and maintained a strong focus on academics, student character, and community connection.
