Updated Bell Schedules Due to Weather: Spring 2026

Posted Date: 03/30/26 (08:52 AM)

Due to the district’s two-hour delayed start due to icy weather conditions in January 2026, Liberty Hill ISD will need to implement a minor adjustment to daily campus schedules beginning Monday, April 6, 2026.

Elementary Schools

  • Bus Drop Off & Doors Open: 7 a.m.

  • First Bell (engagement and instruction begins): 7:20 a.m. (previously 7:25 a.m.)

  • Tardy Bell: 7:30 a.m. (no change)

  • Dismissal: 3:15 p.m. (no change)

Middle Schools

  • Bus Drop Off: 7:45 a.m.

  • Doors Open: 8 a.m.

  • First Bell (engagement and instruction begins): 8:20 a.m. (previously 8:25 a.m.)

  • Tardy Bell: 8:30 a.m. (no change)

  • Dismissal: 4:15 p.m. (no change)

High Schools - No updates to bell schedule

  • Bus Drop Off & Doors Open: 7:30 a.m.

  • First Bell (engagement and instruction begins): 7:55 a.m.

  • Tardy Bell: 8 a.m.

  • Dismissal: 3:50 p.m.

Dismissal times remain unchanged.

This small change allows the district to recover instructional minutes lost during the delayed start and remain in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, while minimizing disruption for students, families and staff. The adjustment will remain in place through the end of the 2025-26 school year.

Adjusted daily bell schedules only impact the first bell of the day at elementary and middle school campuses. An adjustment is not needed at the high school level because high schools already have the additional five minutes under the current bell schedule. The time changes reflect what our campuses have already been doing. The tardy bell and dismissal bell remains the same as the current bell schedule, and bus routes and door opening times remain unchanged.

Why is this adjustment needed?
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires school districts to utilize built-in instructional minutes within the academic calendar before granting a waiver for missed time due to weather. Because TEA only grants waivers for missed full days of instruction, not delayed starts, districts must make up those minutes through schedule adjustments such as this.

The district is currently completing a transportation audit to ensure maximum efficiency with bus travel times that can impact school start and end times. The transportation study is expected to be completed at the beginning of April with school start and end times announced soon after that.
