Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees approves phase two of 2026-27 staff compensation

Posted Date: 05/18/26 (08:20 PM)

LHISD School Board meetingThanks to the support of the Liberty Hill community through the approval of the Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE), Liberty Hill ISD is continuing to follow through on its commitment to invest in the people who make our district exceptional. In April 2026, the Board approved Phase 1 of the district’s compensation plan which was focused on teachers, and now Phase 2 expands that work through a comprehensive review and update of district pay scales across all employee groups.

This review included comparisons with neighboring districts, similarly sized districts, and statewide market data to ensure Liberty Hill ISD remains competitive in an increasingly challenging environment for recruiting and retaining high-quality staff. Every position in a school district plays an essential role in supporting students; from teachers and paraprofessionals, to custodians, bus drivers, and support staff. This plan reflects the district’s commitment to valuing the contributions of all employees.

These updated pay structures are designed to strengthen Liberty Hill ISD’s competitive edge while remaining grounded in the district’s long-term financial sustainability. As part of Phase 2, all staff on the restructured pay scales will receive a 3% general pay increase at the midpoint of their new pay grade, while the district also maintains competitive starting pay for future employees.

This $3.18 million investment aligns directly with the Board’s established budget priorities, including prioritizing staff compensation as a key focus area. While the plan places a strong emphasis on supporting teachers, it also recognizes the importance of every employee who helps create exceptional experiences for students each day.

“Supporting our staff has remained one of the Board’s highest priorities because we know great schools are built by great people,” said Board President Megan Parsons. “We are incredibly grateful to our community for supporting the VATRE and allowing us to continue investing in the employees who serve our students every day. This compensation plan reflects our commitment to remaining competitive, attracting and retaining exceptional staff, and doing so in a way that is responsible and sustainable for the future of Liberty Hill ISD.”

Employees will receive individualized Skyward letters outlining their 2026-2027 compensation. Letters will be sent at the beginning of the month employees receive their first paycheck for the new contract year. The Human Resources Department will also provide employees with additional resources, timelines, and support throughout the process.

Phase 3 of the district’s compensation work, focused on employee benefits, is expected to be presented in June.
