Texas Accountability System and Liberty Hill ISD Ratings

In 2017, the 85th Texas Legislature passed House Bill (HB) 22, creating a new accountability system to measure academic performance for Texas school districts and campuses. This system evaluates performance across three domains:

  • Student Achievement
  • School Progress
  • Closing the Gaps

The overall rating for districts and campuses is calculated using a weighted combination of these domains:

  • The Closing the Gaps domain accounts for 30% of the overall rating.
  • The remaining 70% is determined by the higher score between the Student Achievement and School Progress domains.

Under this system, districts and campuses are assigned letter grades (A, B, C, D, or F) for overall performance and for each domain. These ratings are defined as:

  • A: Exemplary performance
  • B: Recognized performance
  • C: Acceptable performance
  • D: Needs improvement
  • F: Unacceptable performance

District ratings began in August 2018, and campus ratings followed in August 2019.
