Liberty Hill Success Academy Achieves Success In Its Inaugural Year
We are pleased to share that over 60 seniors will have graduated from our very own Liberty Hill Success Academy (LHSA) this inaugural school year! LHSA, which is located in a wing of the Liberty Hill High School, is a LHISD academic program of choice. This alternative learning environment serves students with many stories and situations who, for one reason or another, may not have found success in a more traditional high school setting. LHSA focuses on individualized learning through a self-paced online curriculum blended with student-centered instruction. LHSA is the ideal choice for students needing to recover credits, seek a smaller academic learning community, or accelerate their learning to graduate early.
This program is offered to juniors and seniors that are considered at risk or those with a need to graduate early. Their mission is to empower all students to embrace learning, achieve their personal best, and build their emotional, social and physical wellbeing in a safe and respectful environment. “This program gave me hope when I needed it the most,” new graduate Ella Brown said during her recognition speech. “The staff in this program treated me like I was family, mentored me and truly wanted to see me make it and succeed.” She then shared with her classmates and audience, “Success is an opportunity for anyone.” Ella graduated this month with honors, is working towards her real estate license, and will be attending ACC in the fall.
The flexible, self-paced approach to their learning is the positive theme that students appreciate at LHSA. “We can focus on one class at a time if we want,” said recent graduate Estella Cavazos. “This program is really helpful if you want to finish early or if you want to have a job.” When asked about her future plans, Estella responded with a big smile, “I love bugs!” and shared that she would like to go to Texas A&M to study Entomology.
As the program is self-paced, the program hosts “mini” graduations for the students throughout the year. In addition to many other post-graduate opportunities, some of our LHSA graduates have joined the military, are working on their real estate licenses, are attending a trade school, or have already started college. “The Liberty Hill Success Academy has been just that, a SUCCESS,” said Director of Student Success Jonathan Bever. “We are just getting started and this program is a blessing for the many students that just need options that will meet their needs. Every student is different and will learn differently, and I believe that the Liberty Hill Success Academy can meet the needs of each of these students.
Congratulations to all of our 2023 LHSA graduates!
