Community Message Jan. 17, 2023 Building Champions in Academics, Character, and Community

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It has been a very rewarding and successful semester at Liberty Hill ISD. Our students have accomplished some amazing things. The Vision of LHISD is Building Champions in Academics Character and Community. We certainly have seen our students fulfill that vision this year.

Here are some of the accomplishments:

BUILDING CHAMPIONS IN ACADEMICS

  • LHHS Robotics reached the UIL BEST Robotics state meet and walked away with lots of hardware.
  • 2 Perfect Scores on the ACT.
  • Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) won 1st place at the state competition.
  • ALL LHISD schools improved their scores on STAAR. The state did not release ratings, but "unofficial" ratings show great success.
  • All elementary schools competed in UIL Academics.
  • All elementary schools competed in a Spelling Bee.
  • FFA achieved success at the state level.
  • TAFE sending students to state.
  • Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) achieved success and are sending 25 students to state competition.
  • Agriculture students won awards at county competition.
  • The Success Academy graduated 35 students this semester.

BUILDING CHAMPIONS IN CHARACTER

  • Campuses have implemented a new character education program based on the LHISD L.E.A.D.S. Portrait of a Panther Learner.

BUILDING CHAMPIONS IN COMMUNITY

  • Annual Thanksgiving lunches took place on all campuses. Collectively, the CNS department served 7,370 lunches during that week.
  • Elementary Schools partnered with Williamson County to collect books for children.
  • New Police Chief Rybarski and the LHISD Police Department partnered with the city PD on a toy drive for kids.
  • Officer Bretfelean received the Champions in Action Award for his life saving actions in the fall.
  • Transportation member, Chase Roberts, received the Champions in Action Award, for going above the call of duty when servicing our PD fleet.
  • LHMS strengthened their student service projects.

Liberty Hill High Schools has seen great success in Student Programs this year.
  • LHHS Volleyball reached the UIL State Final match earning a Silver Medal!
  • LHHS made the UIL State Marching Competition for the 1st time in 40 years!
  • LHHS Football reached the State Semi-Finals for the 4th year in a row earning a bronze medal.
  • LHHS Cheerleaders finished in the top 20 at the UIL State Spirit Competition.
  • LHHS Team Tennis made the playoffs.
  • Both Girls (27-0) and Boys Basketball (18-5) are off to a great start.
  • LHHS started a Wrestling Program and is competing well.

STUDENT SUCCESS.  We are excited to see academic success in our district this fall, and there have been numerous student accomplishments and accolades. None of this would be possible without the dedicated teachers and staff who pour into our students each day. Your commitment to best practices, professional development, and PLC improvement has produced tangible and measurable growth for our students. Thank you for all that you do to ensure our students are equipped and empowered for success.

GROWTH. Around the district, LHISD continues to see unprecedented growth. This year our enrollment has increased by around 1000 students over last January for a total enrollment of 8,879. That is a 12% growth and puts LHISD percentage-wise as one of the fastest-growing districts in the state. Last year we saw a 14% growth. That growth has continued the need for more construction and more schools. Last year the Long-Range Planning Committee recommended a May bond, and our community passed it by the highest percentage of any large bond statewide. We are grateful for the support of the community. Our current demographic projections show that LHISD is 4th in total house closings over the past 12 months behind Georgetown, Hays, and Leander. The projections have us growing in enrollment by close to 18,000 by 2033, and currently have projected 8,200 future single-family houses in some form of construction planning.

CONSTRUCTION. This year LHISD opened Elementary #6, Bar W, and the finished expansion of Santa Rita Middle School, Liberty Hill Elementary, and Noble Elementary. Liberty Hill Middle School has finished phase one of its expansion and is continuing construction. This January, the new 6th-grade science labs will be finished. The new year will also be very exciting as we are opening Legacy Ranch High School in the fall of 2024 and Tierra Rosa Elementary School in Santa Rita Ranch. We will also break ground on a new transportation center, Elementary #8, and renovate buildings for a new 18+ and a new technology building. My family wishes you a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year. Most importantly, we hope that you are blessed and surrounded by family and friends this year.

Welcome back Liberty Hill Community!
